The splinter in your finger

The splinter in your finger

We feel expansion, freedom, joy. Then the shit hits the fan.

That’s the way of it. The bodymind experience is a roller coaster.

This entire apparent roller coaster ride is awakeness, presence, pure being — including the contractions and feelings of apparently “losing it.”

But the mind says, No, this bad feeling can’t be it! I’m going to tell you when it’s realized, I’ll let you know, but it’s not this!

But it is already this, exactly the way it is right now, no matter what the thoughts say.

If you believe there’s a splinter in your finger, but there is no splinter, you just feel very strongly that there is one, what can you do?

There’s no solution because there is no splinter.

It feels like there’s a splinter in being. Something is wrong with experience. It’s not how I want it, not what it should be like. I want the ups of expansion but not the downs of contraction.

But this experience, whatever it’s like, is already completely free, even while it doesn’t feel that way due to belief in the thoughts filtering, distorting, and interpreting it.

As long as I believe those thoughts about a “me” separate from this, who can somehow achieve something better than this, I’m trying to dig out an imaginary splinter.
